The National Centre for Earth Science Studies (NCESS), was established in 1978 with the mission to unravel the mysteries surrounding the earth and its processes for the sustainable development of natural resources, conservation of environment and management of natural hazards. NCESS is situated in a tranquil and serene location amidst greenery and the placid Akkulam lake in the city of Thiruvananthapuram, also known as Trivandrum, the capital of the state of Kerala.|
Thiruvananthapuram has emerged as one of the prominent R & D hubs of the country with a cluster of research centres, like the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), the Indian Institute of Science, Education and Research (IISER), Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB), Sree Chitra Thirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (NIIST), Electronic Research & Development Centre (ER&RC), etc.
How to reach NCESS?|
|The city of Thiruvananthapuram is well-connected to all the major cities of India by road, rail and air. The Central Bus and Railway Stations are located at Thampanoor, in the heart of the city, which is approx. 10 km from NCESS. The Kochuveli Railway Station, a satellite passenger terminal in Trivandrum, located at a distance of 6 km from NCESS is also in close proximity. The International Airport is situated at about 8 km from NCESS.|
